Short answer
No — peptides are not steroids. Anabolic-androgenic steroids are typically based on a sterane ring structure (e.g. testosterone and synthetic analogs). Peptides are polymers of amino acids linked by peptide bonds. They include natural hormones (insulin, oxytocin), synthetic analogs (GLP-1 receptor agonists), and research sequences (BPC-157, GHK-Cu). Different shape, different receptors, different regulatory category.

Why people confuse peptides with steroids
Both can appear in strength and body-composition discussions. GH secretagogues influence the GH/IGF axis; steroids flood androgen receptors. The endpoints may overlap in casual conversation, but the mechanisms are not the same. See SARMs vs peptides for receptor-level contrast.
Steroids vs peptides vs SARMs (at a glance)
- Steroids: Steroidal scaffolds; strong androgen receptor signaling; classic AAS side-effect profile in clinical misuse contexts.
- SARMs: Non-steroidal androgen receptor modulators—still not peptides.
- Peptides: Amino acid chains; vast range of targets (incretin receptors, ghrelin receptor, growth-factor pathways, etc.).
