What is VIP?
Vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) is a 28-amino-acid neuropeptide widely distributed in the nervous and immune systems. Research literature examines VIP in gastrointestinal motility, pulmonary inflammation, and immune-cell signaling models.
NRx Pharmaceuticals requested an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for aviptadil (Zyesami) in critical COVID-19 respiratory failure, and FDA declined to issue it in November 2021. Research-catalog VIP peptides are distinct from any pharmaceutical formulations and require independent vendor verification.
Research areas & preclinical findings
Gastrointestinal and smooth muscle research
VIP influences gastrointestinal motility and secretion via VPAC receptor signaling—assay endpoints depend on tissue type and experimental model.
Pulmonary and inflammatory models
Preclinical and clinical studies explore VIP in pulmonary hypertension and inflammatory airway models—translation depends on species and disease context.
Immune-modulation research
VIP modulates cytokine release and T-cell differentiation in experimental immunology frameworks—literature outcomes are model-dependent.

Quality & documentation
Certificates of analysis should document amino-acid sequence confirmation and HPLC purity suitable for your institutional assay requirements.

Storage & reconstitution (laboratory protocol)
- Store lyophilized peptide with desiccant at −20 °C or per vendor insert.
- Reconstitute with sterile solvent validated for peptide stability.
- Aliquot to minimize freeze–thaw cycles; document cold-chain compliance.
Use the research peptide stock solution calculator to translate mass and concentration targets into documented laboratory volumes.
